About these terms

These terms are the agreement between you and Halafoodie for using the Halafoodie app and the website halafoodie.iq. By using Halafoodie you accept them. If you don't agree, please don't use Halafoodie.

How we handle your personal data is explained in our privacy policy.

Who can use Halafoodie

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, make sure a parent or guardian agrees to these terms.
Anyone can watch reels and browse places without an account.
You may not use Halafoodie if we have banned you, unless we tell you otherwise.

Your account and phone number

You sign in with an Iraqi mobile number (+964) and a code we send by SMS. Use only a number that is yours.
Keep your phone and your codes to yourself. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
Your name, @handle and photo must not pretend to be someone else or another business.
One person, one account. Don't sell, share or transfer your account.
If you lose your number or think someone else is using your account, tell us at info@halafoodie.iq.

What you can post

Reels can be posted only by approved business accounts, about their own venue: its food, drinks and place. A reel is at most 60 seconds long.
Everyone with an account can comment, reply, like, save, make private collections, follow venues, share reels and rate and review venues.
Post only content you have the right to post. You are responsible for what you post.

What is not allowed

Halafoodie is about food and the places that serve it. Do not post or do anything that:

spreads hate or attacks people for who they are, or harasses, threatens or bullies anyone;
shows nudity or sexual content;
shows or encourages violence, or shows graphic or shocking content;
is spam, fake engagement (bought likes, views, follows or reviews) or repeated unwanted posting;
is misleading, such as false prices, dishes a venue does not serve, or fake offers;
impersonates a person, a business or Halafoodie;
uses someone else's content (videos, photos, music, logos) without permission;
shares other people's personal information, such as their phone number, without their consent;
breaks the law, or promotes illegal goods or activities;
abuses the service: scraping, automated accounts, getting around limits or bans, interfering with our servers, or misusing reports.

We have no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. We act on reports quickly, remove content that breaks these rules and ban the accounts responsible. You can also block an account so you no longer see its content. Totals such as ratings and comment counts may still include it, and blocking doesn't stop that account from seeing public content.

Businesses and venues

To post as a business you apply in the app with the venue's details and a photo of its trade licence. We review every application and may approve or reject it. Approval does not mean we endorse the venue.
A venue's owner is responsible for its page and reels: its name, prices, menus, dishes, opening hours, address, map pin and phone numbers must be accurate and kept up to date.
Prices and dishes shown in reels come from the venue. Halafoodie does not sell food, take orders or handle payments. Anything you buy from a venue is between you and the venue.
A "Verified" mark means our team checked the venue. It is not a guarantee of its food or service.
We may suspend a venue that breaks these terms. While it is suspended its page and reels are hidden and it cannot post.

Ratings and reviews

You can rate each venue once, from 1 to 5 stars, with an optional review and dish. You can edit or delete your rating at any time.
Reviews must be honest and about your own experience at the venue.
A venue's owner never rates their own venue. Don't rate a venue in exchange for money, food or favours, and don't rate a competitor to harm it.
New accounts must wait a day before rating, and an account can post a limited number of new reviews a day.
A venue shows "New" until it has 3 ratings.
Anyone, including the venue's owner, can report a review that breaks the rules. Owners cannot remove reviews themselves. We may hide reviews that break these terms.

Your content and our licence

You keep ownership of what you post.
So that we can run Halafoodie, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, process, adapt (for example, to make different sizes, shorter previews and cover images) and show your content in the Halafoodie app, on the Halafoodie website and through the share links people send.
This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that remain in backups until they expire (up to 30 days), and for links other people already shared, which then stop working.

Moderation, reports and bans

You can report a reel, comment, review or ad that you think breaks these terms. Our team reviews reports.
We may hide content, suspend a venue, or ban an account, for a limited time or permanently, when it breaks these terms or the law, or to protect people. We tell you the reason in the app when we remove your content or suspend your venue. If your account is banned, you can write to info@halafoodie.iq to learn why and to appeal.
If you think we made a mistake, write to info@halafoodie.iq.
We may also remove content when the law requires it.

Links and other services

Some buttons open other services, such as your maps app for directions, your phone app for calls, or WhatsApp. Those services have their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.

No warranty

We work hard to keep Halafoodie useful and running, but we provide it "as is". We don't promise that it will always be available, free of errors, or that the information venues give (prices, menus, hours, ingredients) is correct or current. Check with the venue when it matters, especially about allergies.

Limitation of liability

As far as Iraqi law allows, Halafoodie is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses caused by venues, advertisers, other users or services outside our control. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that the law does not allow us to limit.

Termination

You can stop using Halafoodie at any time and delete your account in the app (Settings → Account → Delete account) or at https://halafoodie.iq/en/delete-account. You have 30 days to restore it by signing in again; after that it is erased permanently.
We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms. The sections on your content, no warranty, limitation of liability and governing law continue to apply after your account ends.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when Halafoodie changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is important, we will tell you in the app before it applies. If you keep using Halafoodie after that, you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Iraq. Disputes are handled by the competent courts of Iraq.
